About Zsófia Marx
 

I am a designer and maker of unique sculptural hand-felted headwear. I create hats to provide joy and vitality in the lives of the wearers. My hat designs are visual tales which sparkle into life when combined with the individual characteristics of the wearer. I believe that the most beautiful part of a woman is her originality. She deserves every opportunity to express this in a stylish and elegant way. 

My collection develops organically. Felt, my material of choice, inspires me in this journey. I transform it in my hands, like a clay, moulding new shapes. Each new design is carefully tested before being introduced into the collection, to ensure harmony of design and comfort. A change of colour, the adding or taking away of a fold. Every detail of the design must balance together perfectly. Most of my designs took years to develop to achieve the look they now have. Comfort and wear-ability are key elements in my designs. 

 Each piece is devoted to drawing out the finest features of a woman, her inner beauty and her strength. This positive transformation of the wearer is a huge inspiration and energy to me. My desire is to give every woman the opportunity to stand out, to feel confident and strong, and be proud of who she is. 

Every piece of the collection, from material to the finished design, is handcrafted in my Amsterdam studio. The skills that I use in the production are a result of my lifelong passion and dedication to discovering, learning and practicing traditional making methods. The production is small scale and done with respect to the environment and all living creatures.
